World celebrates International Data Privacy Day on January 28th

Data Privacy Day (or Data Protecion Day) is an international holiday that occurs every 28 January. The purpose of Data Privacy Day is to raise awareness in society and promote and share privacy and data protection best practices. It is currently celebrated in the United States, Canada, India and 47 European countries, including Georgia.

At first, this day was initiated by the Council of Europe to be first held in 2007 as the European Data Protection Day. Two years later, both – the US House of Representatives and the Senate – passed House Resolution declaring January 28th National Data Privacy Day. In 2009 28 January was recognized as a Data Privacy Day by many international organizations and member countries of European Council as well.

Nowadays, a number of international organizations host events to support data privacy and protection. You can learn about the success of Data Privacy Day each year on the below link: https://staysafeonline.org/data-privacy-day/about

It’s remarkable that one of the main goals of IDIT (Institute for Development of Information Technologies) includes: Protection of personal data, promotion of awareness in society and supporting civil sector development. Therefore, we hope that our organization will also make its contribution to achieve an important development of personal data protection.

We would like to congratulate you on International Data Privacy Day!
